Orthotics in Sydney

What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are specially designed devices that are worn inside the shoe to control abnormal foot function and/or
accommodate painful areas of the foot. Properly designed foot orthotics may compensate for impaired foot function, by
controlling abnormal motion across the joints of the foot. This may result in dramatic improvement in foot symptoms.
Functional foot orthotics are usually made from rigid materials, especially plastics and carbon-fibre composites. They
are constructed upon a plaster impression of the feet, and modified based on the podiatrist’s/physiotherapist’s
evaluation of your problem. They are normally quite comfortable, and do not feel hard or uncomfortable in the shoe.
Orthotics can help manage your: Heel pain, Flat feet, Sore feet, Plantar Fascilitis, Heel Spur, Ball of foot pain,
Bunions, Shin pain.

Fashion Orthotics for Women

Diabetic and Sensitive Feet Orthotics

Children’s Orthotics

Designed for that still developing individual who needs support. Will help alleviate many of the symptoms associated with flat feet by gently guiding the foot into a more normal and optimal position. Fits virtually all children’s shoes. Product description: Rigid-moulded shell with extra-deep heel cup. Provides maximum control of foot function in the still flexible growing foot.

Ski/Skate Orthotics

Designed for use in a narrow shoe such as a ski boot or skate (either ice or roller). In these sports, it is essential that motion of the foot be “balanced” and perpendicular to the ground. When the arch collapses, there is a corresponding rolling-in of the foot and excess pressure on the inside of the ski or skate, resulting in poor performance. The orthotic also dramatically improves the fit of the boot, increasing not only performance of the sport, but comfort
Product description: Semi-rigid shell with cover extending to toes (full length). Soft material under ball of foot moulds to the shape of the toes, resulting in greater control of the ski or skate. Also has an attached strap for easy removal from boot. Even easier, call our Sydney Physiotherapy clinic if you would like to learn more
